For three years, there was a great deal of talk about creating an entity to promote and manage the touristic activities of the Vallès Oriental. On the 20th of December 1998, this idea gave birth to the Consortium for Tourism of the Vallès Oriental. In the years prior to the creation of the Consortium, numerous meetings were held with all kinds of organisations and people from the county in order to identify the organisational model most capable of promoting the tourism projects already present in the Vallès Oriental. Finally, after taking into consideration of all the people involved in this consultation process, it was decided that a mixed consortium was the best option. Currently, the Consortium for Tourism is formed by public agencies (the Diputació de Barcelona, County Council of the Vallès Oriental, The Consortium for the Promotion of Municipalities of the Moianès, and the 31 city halls of the county), as well as entities from the private sector.
The primary objectives behind the creation of the Consortium for Tourism of the Vallès Oriental are: the promotion of activities aimed at increasing the demand for tourism and consumption in the county. Additionally, the Consortium strives to foster the creation of new services in this sector, and improve the quality and quantity of the existing offer. At the same time, the Consortium for Tourism also represents the tourism sector in the Vallès Oriental.
The Consortium is a legal entity which operates independently and enjoys the capacity to work fully and freely toward its founding goals.
