Modernism

La Garriga

La Garriga is located in the southwest of Montseny. The river Congost crosses this municipality, a natural way between Vallès and the plains of Vic. Its history is linked to thermal waters in the past and especially during Roman times, from which it keeps some interesting remains such as the Roman villa in Can Terrers. The town centre was built around a thermal spring, which has waters that boil at over 60ºC. During the second half of the twentieth century, spas caused the town to grow, especially regarding the building of houses for summer vacation-goers from Barcelona.

These two facts contributed to consolidate La Garriga as a holiday place, which has the most outstanding modernist set in the county -Raspall block, with four houses by this architect which have been declared National Cultural Heritage.
